Letter from the First Vice President
Hi Ladies –
Painting the “Non-traditional Strokework” with Lee Fasnacht was the very first time I have painted an
orchid. Somehow this seems to be a flower that has been neglected. It sure had some unexpected turns
and twists. It looked like everyone will have a lovely piece when completed. Thanks again Lee.
I’ve been in touch with Pat Smelkoff re our June “Mr. Pelican” workshop that she will be teaching on
June 4th. Pat is anxious to paint the project with us and to meet some of our new members and revew
her friendship with the old timers. I believe we will all learn some-thing new from Pat with this project.
If you are thinking that “Mr. Pelican” may not fit with your décor, how about painting him on a
shoebox. There are still some seats available, so call ASAP.
In July, Paula Tormey will be teaching us more water-color techniques as we paint “The “Driftwood
Beach Scene” with her. In this project, she will teach us how to make realistic looking shells and log, as
well as using a special white and designer gouche.
Please note that because of the July 4th holiday, the July class will be held on July 9th - the second
Saturday of the month. Our June luncheon menu will feature a variety of sandwiches & wraps with
salad for the low price of $5 (so far).
Sign-ups for all of the Workshops are now being taken. You can always contact me by email
(rcm0335@gmail.com) or phone (386-447-1923) if you have any questions.
Have a happy Memoriall Day weekend! See you at the June 4th class, if not before.
Ruth McDonald
First Vice President
ABOUT US
Our Chapter was formed in 2003. Since that time, members
have enjoyed trying their skills at various types of art: oil,
acrylic, fabric and water color painting, tangles, colored pencil,
and glass painting. We paint on many different surfaces,
including canvas, gourds, baskets, and wooden surfaces. Our
Chapter children’s project is Kids R First which is photo boxes
being painted for local foster children ranging in age from
infant to 18 years.
Meetings are held the first Saturday of every month at 9:00
a.m. at the Flagler Women’s Club, 1524 S. Central Avenue,
Flagler Beach, FL. After our meeting, we have a scheduled
workshop. For information about Palm Coast Decorative
