ABOUT US In January 2003 Judith Beuchert contacted the Society of Decorative Painters and requested information on forming a local chapter of the Society. Armed only with all the particulars, Judy contacted Lois Higginbotham, Barbara Jacobs and Ginny Wiegand and asked them to help organize a meeting to see what the interest would be in forming a local chapter. Ginny contacted Pat Smelkoff and the five women proceeded to form the steering committee for what was soon to become Palm Coast Decorative Painters. On February 1, 2003 the first ever meeting of Palm Coast Decorative Painters was held at Halifax Plantation. The steering committee believed approximately 20 people would attend this meeting. To their surprise over 60 people attended and over 40 signed up as members that very day. The need for a local chapter was obvious. In March 2003, the Palm Coast Decorative Painters became a charter affiliate of the Society of Decorative Painters. Since that time, the members have enjoyed improving their individual skill through monthly workshops and seminars, and have shared their talents with the community. We painted murals at the Family Life Center, Flagler Pines Nursing Home, Flagler County Humane Society, Flagler Women’s Club and the Palm Coast Adult Education Store Front. We have painted items for the Hospice Gala Auction, Christmas Ornaments for the Red Cross, painted boxes for the residents of the Flagler Pines Nursing Home and Kids r First.

We are a group of people who love to create - whether it’s acrylics, oils, colored pencils, watercolor, pen and ink, whatever!    We have painted on wood, fabric, tin, slate, paper, glass, and more! Our mission is to stimulate interest and appreciation of decorative painting. Meetings are usually held the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 am at the Flagler Women’s Club, 1524 S. Central Avenue, Flagler Beach, FL. After our meeting, we have a scheduled workshop. Check the latest newsletter to see what's coming up or contact any one of the Board Members listed below for more information.
A 2017 Message from PCDP President, Lana Raymond This is the beginning of a new year for our Chapter.  Our members have a lot to look forward to in 2017.   The national Society of Decorative Painters organization is having its convention in Daytona Beach in May 2017. The Convention will provide us with the opportunity to learn new painting techniques and to raise money for our philanthropic endeavors by selling hand painted items.  Our fund raising endeavors include painting shoeboxes for our Kids R First program and our first annual Ginny Wiegand Scholarship Fund for deserving high school art students.  Visitors are always welcome to come paint with us.  Our Chapter had scheduled our second annual Mad Hatter Auction and Luncheon for March 2017. Because the Society of Decorative Painters Convention is being held in Daytona Beach in May 2017, the Board decided to not have the auction until March 2018. Having the Convention in Daytona Beach is a great opportunity for our members to attend and have a learning experience at the Convention.
PCDP is a Not For Profit organization
