ABOUT US In January 2003 Judith Beuchert contacted the Society of Decorative Painters and requested information on forming a local chapter of the Society. Armed only with all the particulars, Judy contacted Lois Higginbotham, Barbara Jacobs and Ginny Wiegand and asked them to help organize a meeting to see what the interest would be in forming a local chapter. Ginny contacted Pat Smelkoff and the five women proceeded to form the steering committee for what was soon to become Palm Coast Decorative Painters. On February 1, 2003 the first ever meeting of Palm Coast Decorative Painters was held at Halifax Plantation. The steering committee believed approximately 20 people would attend this meeting. To their surprise over 60 people attended and over 40 signed up as members that very day. The need for a local chapter was obvious. In March 2003, the Palm Coast Decorative Painters became a charter affiliate of the Society of Decorative Painters. Since that time, the members have enjoyed improving their individual skill through monthly workshops and seminars, and have shared their talents with the community. We painted murals at the Family Life Center, Flagler Pines Nursing Home, Flagler County Humane Society, Flagler Women’s Club and the Palm Coast Adult Education Store Front. We have painted items for the Hospice Gala Auction, Christmas Ornaments for the Red Cross, painted boxes for the residents of the Flagler Pines Nursing Home and Kids r First.

Our mission is to stimulate interest and appreciation of decorative painting. Meetings are usually held the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 am at the Flagler Women’s Club, 1524 S. Central Avenue, Flagler Beach, FL. After our meeting, we have a scheduled workshop. A 2018 Message from PCDP President, Lana Raymond: Once again, it’s the beginning of a new year. We ended 2017 with a fun- filled Christmas party. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it. It was especially uplifting to see some of our former members. I want to thank everyone for their support of our Chapter. We have some nice projects planned for 2018 and some open “Free Paint” days for UFOs. Maybe we can plan more “covered dish” luncheons. Lee Fasnacht, our new 1st Vice President/Workshop Chair will be sending out information on our projects for the New Year. Don’t forget to sign up for Nancy’s “Cardinals” class on January 6th. You can send your reservation form and check to Lee. Our February 3rd class with Marjorie Harris Clark of the “Child with Seashell” will be prep FREE. The fee is $35 and Marjorie will provide the canvas, base coat and place-ment of the pattern. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Lana Raymond
